Kinetiq Sports Biomechanics Institute
Primary Purposes
- To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas for sports biomechanics researchers, coaches, and teachers.
- To bridge the gap between researchers and practitioners.
- To gather and disseminate information and materials on biomechanics in sports.
Participants
Kinetiq is composed of members from around the world with a shared desire to study and understand human movement, especially as it relates to applied sports biomechanics. Participants come from a wide range of backgrounds including exercise science, engineering, computer science, rehabilitation, and coaching.
Origin
Kinetiq was founded in 1994 by a small group of researchers who had grown frustrated presenting sports biomechanics findings at general sports science conferences where the audience lacked the technical background to engage with the work. The founding meeting drew 41 attendees. Since then, Kinetiq has grown into an international research society with an annual conference, a peer-reviewed journal, and a research grant programme supporting early-career investigators.

We are pleased to invite you to the 32nd Kinetiq Annual Symposium, hosted this year in partnership with a leading sports science faculty. The symposium brings together leading minds in academic and applied sports biomechanics to exchange research, collaborate, and network. Each accepted abstract will be individually published in a supplementary issue of our affiliated journal. Topics span performance and injury-related biomechanics, as well as equipment, technology, and advanced methodology.
Current Newsletter
The current Kinetiq Research Bulletin, Volume 18, No. 1, is now published.
